Rutgers Recruiting Officials Visit Chabad House
The official Recruiting Officers of Rutgers University recently visited the construction site of the 55,000 square foot addition of Chabad House in the heart of Rutgers on College Ave., New Brunswick.

The twenty Rutgers officials spent several hours touring every floor of the new complex, including the new Kosher Dining Hall, Kosher Kitchens, Sephardic Synagogue, Student Lounges, the new Men's Dormitories, and International Coffee House.  The visit also included a detailed explanation on all the amenities that would be featured in the new complex.  The officials expressed their appreciation for the level of construction, and the planning that has been invested in every detail. They marvelled at the combined future complex of 90,000 sq ft that would cater to every facet of Jewish life, education, religious services, housing and kosher meals for thousands of students annually.

Rabbi Baruch Goodman, Campus Rabbi at Chabad, welcomed the recruiters and engaged them with stories of his twenty five years on campus. The audience thoroughly enjoyed his account of student life from the perspective of a campus rabbi.

Following Rabbi Goodman, the founding rabbi and executive director of Chabad House, Rabbi Yosef Carlebach explained the purpose and goals of Chabad on Campus.  Rabbi Carlebach, who arrived at Rutgers in 1978, recounted Chabad's history of a modest rented room in the Rutgers Student Center to its present location on College Ave.  He also publicly thanked the administration of Rutgers University for its constant interest and support on the affairs of its students in general, and the students of Chabad House in particular.

Following a question and answer period, the recruiting officers left with brochures and paraphernalia, and a new understanding of the direction of Jewish life at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
